Shooting by the Sea

I've been shooting bands for a while now, mostly Lincolnshire based with the occasional act further away. I'd say a majority of my work usually consists of concerts, however at some point artists need images for socials that aren't on stage, showing who they are and what style they have for that era.

In this case, DB Jones, based near Horncastle reached out to me to capture some for them.

After a lineup change and a change in direction musically, the band wanted to do an outdoor shoot that showed who they are clearly.

Shot on Sony A7Rii with Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 and Sigma 35mm F/1.4.

This one was my favourite from this shoot.

When it comes to shooting bands who are not as comfortable on camera, I tend to use humour to relax them and make them feel more comfortable around me (it can be strange being in front of the camera). At the end of the day, I want my clients to come away feeling relaxed and in peace of mind that their time was used well and will have images they want to use.

I often try to get a mix of both horizontal and landscape images to give artists images they can use on different social media channels. Especially with vertical images for use on Instagram and Facebook which can be used in posts and stories.

Horizontal images tend to be for cover photos or banners.

Overall a fun couple hours shooting these for the band, the first time I had worked with them.

(Spoiler, I have worked with them since this shoot, as you'll see in future posts on this blog)
